Human approvals

How ESCALATE brings a person into the decision.

Updated October 2026 · 1 min read

When a policy returns ESCALATE, the action waits for human authorization at the boundary. The approval is recorded as part of the decision trail.

  1. The agent requests an action and the runtime returns ESCALATE.
  2. A person with the right workspace role reviews the request.
  3. The person approves or rejects it.
  4. The outcome is recorded and the action either proceeds or stays blocked.

Note: Privileged actions can additionally require MFA step-up. See Access and security.
